I’m a Qualified OT!

by Suhaila Usuludin ~ March 16th, 2008. Filed under: Archived, Latest News, School, Work.

Results have been released. I’ve cleared the last semesters with Bs and B+s. Although the absence of any As is obvious, I am grateful that looking at a bigger picture, I have cleared the final semester of this hectic 3 years. Hectic yes, but I enjoyed the process with the company of my beautiful fellow coursemates.

I have just received the transcript and letter of conferment for graduation. I’m truly happy. I’ll be graduating in May. In the meantime, I am going for a negotiation process with the HR of an acute hospital for a locum OT position tomorrow. May I get the best deal out of it.

And now, I shall add on another category in my entry… WORK.

Thanks Natan! I’m now facing a new kind of challenge of being an OT. It’s totally different from a student’s.

Congrats! I would love to talk with you about the process of becoming an OT. I am starting my OT studies this fall at NYU. I would be interested to hear advice about the process….things you would recommend, things you would have done differently.

Also, I would like to focus on geriatrics and I noticed many of your posts dealt with this topic.

thank you kindly and best success to you,
    Lindsey

Hi Lindsey! Sorry for the late reply.

Congrats on starting the OT course in NYU! I’m currently in La Trobe University, Australia, doing my degree conversion programme. The experience as a student is all so familiar now.

Oh… with regards to your concerns, I am very sure that your uni will provide one of the best
OT education in your country. You will have lots of assignments and practical exams. So, I suggest that you’ll have a study group. It’s effective for me as you’ll have lots of hands-on. It’ll be good to have friends to work with for that.

If I were to do things differently, I would be more conscientious in my studies. It is because i felt that I procrastinate a lot. This is no good. I try to be a better student now. :P

Fieldwork, it’s not easy being a student under a supervisor because you don’t really know what’s your limits. So on the first week, try to work out expectations. Things will go better that way. And show initiatives. It’s very important.

Yup, that’s all for now. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at suhaila85@hotmail.com.

    Cheers,
    Suhaila
