Week 3

Despite the tough process in improving my problem deficits, I enjoyed the process. I am currently managing about 3 cases on a daily basis. It will be increased next week. I enjoyed working with the people there. The staff has been very helpful and friendly. I also attended the OT Lunch on Wednesday. We had a feast!
This clinical placement has provided me with lots of ‘FIRST TIMES’. It is the first time I assessed apraxic patients. First time in implementing AusTOMs. First time in seeing a client with truncal ataxia. First time for implementing the NDT techniques taught in school on real patients. First time to see that NDT works for a client of mine!
Informal midway evaluation has also been conducted between my clinical supervisor and me. Feedbacks are noted in the areas of problem identification as well as the infamous clinical reasoning. I also need to buck up on my handling skills, in grading the assistance level. I will work hard to improve in these highlighted areas so as to maximise my learning there and to be a more efficient therapist in future.
